Better Sleep Through Yoga
2006-03-30 08:18 in /life/yoga
I’ve noticed that when I manage to get to yoga at least every other day, I see improvements that quickly disappear if I have a longer gap. Next weekend, John Friend is in town for a workshop, and I’m trying to get in a little practice every day so that I can get the benefit of fun, crazy stuff then, and not have to worry about little things like whether my hamstrings want to let me straighten my legs.
Apparently there are other benefits. Last night I spent 20 minutes or so before bed, just doing a basic Sun Salutation and various forward bends. (Sun Salutation at night seemed a little odd, but I don’t remember the Moon Salutation.) When I went to bed, I went to sleep without any tossing and turning, and I don’t remember waking at all during the night. I woke up naturally between 6:15 and 6:30 feeling completely refreshed. I’ve actually got more time on my hands this morning than I know what to do with.
I’ve got to do this more often!
