The difference between great heroes and everyday heroes is largely a matter of luck and circumstance as to whether a particular act of courage changes the world. I don’t know if it’ll change the world, but these kids are heroes in my book:

On Tuesday morning, our DSL modem died, taking our mail and web servers off the air for a little over a day until a replacement arrived. What a pain.

I’ve been thinking for a while that maybe I ought to just give up on this running servers from my house thing and pay someone for hosting, since everytime I go on vacation I worry about something crashing or losing power or something. Actually, last month we did have a problem because S. accidentally turned off the machine that runs the DNS server, which rendered everything else inaccessible until I got the records moved over to Sandro’s server.

Meanwhile, I’ve seen multiple recommendations for Dreamhost from my friends, so maybe I should go look at them.
